maybe remove the "lacks references" tag now?
[edit]unless there is something i'm missing... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.81.85.134 (talk) 18:40, 17 February 2007 (UTC). desribe breifly the types of organization —Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.94.11.82 (talk) 05:08, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
It misses a reference to Henry Mintzberg. He contributed to all the theory of all the described structures — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.88.36.130 (talk) 15:43, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

Success factors
[edit]This section needs to be completely rewritten. Those are not factors leading to success, those are types of organisational structure. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.63.43.5 (talk) 09:23, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. I will remove this section since nobody has explained why it should be retained. Furthermore, it seems to be an oversimplification which misrepresents both theory as well as practice. Mikebeep (talk) 10:19, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
Looking though my business course text and it seems like this article is getting Structure and Organization mixed up. Horizontal and vertical are the structures and Matrix, functional etc are organizations. Seems like a rewrite should be in orderJitsuman (talk) 18:32, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
History: Hierarchical organization and Flat organization
[edit]It sounds as if these were opposite, which is not true. Hierarchical structure can be tall or flat (height of the pyramid for example), it still stays a hierarchical structure. So being flat is an optional property of a hierarchical structure (althrough hierarchical structures tend to be tall rather than flat).
Also organisation can not be "flat". It can only have flat organisational structure. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.21.170.9 (talk) 17:09, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
Matrix Organization
[edit]The article says "Matrix structure is amongst the purest of organizational structures, a simple lattice emulating order and regularity demonstrated in nature." Can somebody elaborate what this means, and where this kind of order and regularity is actually demonstrated in nature, preferably with one or more citations? Otherwise I suggest removing the entire sentence, IMHO it does not add to the description of matrix organization. 95.90.236.202 (talk) 12:45, 10 August 2015 (UTC)

Hierarchy-community phenotype model should be removed
[edit]I feel that the section "Hierarchy-community phenotype model" should be removed.
I found the concept really interesting and wanted to find out more but there is no reference to the original paper. If the structure is not mainstream enough to allow further information, then it should not really be on a wikipedia page in such detail. A better approach would be to have an "alternative structures" section and briefly list concepts and references. The paper "Examining the literature on organizational structure and success" is not a comprehensive literature review paper (it does not have a bibliography and only references a very few papers) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Internetscooter (talk • contribs) 02:15, 13 April 2018 (UTC)
Bureaucratic vs functional structure?
[edit]The article doesn't make clear if Bureaucratic and Functional are different structures.
The discussion of Functional Structure begins with a discussion of org structure in general, which should be earlier the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.20.10.177 (talk) 16:20, 30 May 2022 (UTC)

Organizational structure
[edit]Is there a special organizational structure for architecture schools? It seems that a special organizational structure should be designed for them according to their social roles and the special educational methods that exist in them. 5.124.62.2 (talk) 18:12, 23 August 2023 (UTC)
