The recent precedent of Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Billary suggests that derisive nicknames of politicians are not encyclopedic. Delete. Gazpacho 10:24, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- I disagree. There are quite a few examples of notable nicknames that are at least redirects (e.g. Dubya). This nickname also seems notable to me: dumbya bush gets 9,430 google hits. So I think we should keep this stub. Sietse 12:05, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Delete: I think the current Prednisent is as sharp as a bowling ball, but there are only two pejorative nicknames for him that I think are widespread and persistent enough to need an article: dubya and Shrub. At any rate, all such derivative insults should be included in (oh, I hate to say this) a section of the George W. Bush article, if anywhere. A redirect should be created only at the name. - Delete. Agree with Geogre, although it would take a bolder man than I to edit George W. Bush right now. Meelar (talk) 15:53, Oct 28, 2004 (UTC)

- Delete If it was used by a major commenter, and it became popular, then it might warrant a mention on the President Bush page, but as an article on it's own it's worthless. PPGMD 22:34, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Comment 10,600 Google hits? And 24,400 hits in Google groups? That seems like a lot to me. But what to do with it? I think it does deserve a mention somewhere but I don't think I want to merge it into George W. Bush and a redirect to George W. Bush probably won't go over well, either. Does someone want to write a balanced article on derisive nicknames for politicians? Dpbsmith (talk) 23:26, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Keep or at least merge to W.'s article. 10,600 is a lot of hits and the article didn't seem POV. Dmn / Դմն 00:15, 29 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. POV nickname. I don't think the number of hits on Google mean much in this case...it's likely to have been independently coined many times.
At best, redirect to George W. Bush. — Gwalla | Talk 04:05, 29 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Keep, encyclopedic enough. —siroχo 08:46, Oct 29, 2004 (UTC)

- From Wikipedia:Redirects for deletion: For example, redirecting Dubya to George W. Bush might be considered offensive, but the redirect aids accidental linking, makes the creation of duplicate articles less likely, and is useful to some people, so it should not be deleted. Considering the large number of google hits, I have to vote to keep as a redirect for Dumbya on the same basis as why we keep Dubya. anthony 警告 13:32, 30 Oct 2004 (UTC)

- Keep. BTW, I think Dubya (W-B-ya) is a friendly mickname for GWB, used in positive context by some Republicans, while Dumbya is offensive and only the most hostile democrats used it to dehonest the President. (unsigned contribution by User:195.70.48.242 - contribs)
