Welcome!
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

DYK
I was wondering why you moved the page from Mervyn Dymally to Mervyn M. Dymally. The naming convention says that articles should be at the name they are best known in English. Is he better known by that name? Guettarda 03:06, 30 July 2005 (UTC)
- "Mervyn Dymally" gets twice the google hits of "Mervyn M. Dymally", so I am not convinced that it is more common usage. Granted, google is not the ultimate source for usage, but this is a more complicated page title. Guettarda 04:14, 30 July 2005 (UTC)
- It's not a huge deal, but you should really raise this on the talk page in future before you move a page. Guettarda 04:17, 30 July 2005 (UTC)

Category renaming for Category:United States Students' Unions
Hi. As an editor who participated in the discussion regarding renaming Category:United States Students' Unions, I am writing you to let you know that while there was consensus to rename the category there was no clear consensus for the final name. If you would like to revisit the discussion on Category talk:United States Students' Unions I am willing to consider an agreement there and rename the category. I won't be monitoring your talk page so if you have to reply to me directly please do so on my talk page. Thanks! --Syrthiss 19:52, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

It's not the existence of a single news article, it's the content of the article. Looks like you've deleted a bunch of notable debaters with links from numerous Wikipedia articles? I think you should undelete, these folks are very well known in their community. -- TrinityC 01:13, 13 February 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:BobHuff.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:BobHuff.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Historical California State Legislature
OCNative: I notice you have contributed a lot to the historical charts of CA state assemblymen and senators so I was interested in your opinion on this. I feel the placement of the charts, one on a page ~/historical and on the discussion page, respectively, is out of place. What if we create a page like United States Congressional Delegations from California which will house both charts and call it: California State Legislature Delegations? Cmdrbond 01:20, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
- I like Members of the California State Legislature -- I feel that it's not really a "list of" since it's more of a huge table. Do you think you're able to move the two tables to that new page and delete them from the old pages (so people dont edit that page?). Thanks Cmdrbond 07:42, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

Image:CalifAssemblyChamber.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:CalifAssemblyChamber.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Untagged image
An image you uploaded, Image:CaliforniaTreasurerSeal.gif, was tagged with the {{coatofarms}} copyright tag. This tag was deleted because it does not actually specify the copyright status of the image. The image may need a more accurate copyright tag, or it may need to be deleted. If the image portrays a seal or emblem, it should be tagged as {{seal}}. If you have any questions, ask them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. -- 16:23, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:TomCampbell.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:TomCampbell.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

- A commons image of the California Senate chamber is available. It may not be as well composed as this fair use photo, but it is much higher resolution, shows the same content, and is already included on the only page in which this fair use photo appears (namely California State Senate). —RP88 06:31, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
Image:CaliforniaSenateSeal.gif & Image:CaliforniaAssemblySeal.PNG
I noticed that both of these two images of California seals that you uploaded lacked a fair use rationale. All of the fair use license templates, including {{seal}}, say that a fair use rationale is mandatory and that it must justify every page on which they are used. For both images I added what I believe to be a fair use rationale for their use on their corresponding legislative branch pages. You, or someone else, will need to add additional fair use rationale statements if you wish to use it on other pages.
In addition, both images lack details about their source. If you personally drew all of the details of these seals, you need to mention it. If you did not create these images entirely yourself, you need to provide specific details about the source of the origin image, such as the URL from which you downloaded it. Per WP:CSD#I4, images with unknown sources are eligible to be deleted in seven days. —RP88 10:06, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
AfD nomination of Senior G8 leader
An editor has nominated Senior G8 leader, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Senior G8 leader and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. Hello OCNative, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:CA SC seal.jpg) was found at the following location: User:OCNative/In re Governorship. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not re-add the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Please note that it is possible that the image on your page is included vie a template or usebox. In that case, please find a free image for the template or userbox. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 10:41, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

Non-free use disputed for Image:Pete Knight.jpg
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Pete Knight.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 06:30, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
