Basically just lyrics, which doesn't really seem to be encyclopedic. Also, Hark, The Herald Angels Sing, Love Divine, All Loves Excelling, O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing. Niteowlneils 01:43, 27 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Delete -not encyclopedic.move to Transwiki--Jondel 01:59, 27 Sep 2004 (UTC)- Transwiki to Wikihymnbook, if public domain, which they should be. -- [[User:Bobdoe|BobDoe]] 02:10, 27 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Transwiki. • Benc • 02:58, 27 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Keep the article prefacing the lyrics at O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing. Transwiki everything else, including the lyrics at that article. --Aponar Kestrel (talk) 05:00, 2004 Sep 27 (UTC)
- Retain, but perhaps recatalogue in a location for songs/lyrics, specifically in a hymnology section -- Manumit 05:31, 27 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Transwiki lyrics, keep preface of O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing Gazpacho 05:37, 27 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Transwiki lyrics; keep stubs as pointers to Wikisource. Smerdis of Tlön 16:06, 27 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Transwiki lyrics and keep prefaces, but replace lyrics in WP with links to transwikied copies. More can probably be written about them in the manner of the preface to O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing. — Gwalla | Talk 19:03, 27 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Though I don't know how it's done, I agree with the idea of Transwikiing the lyrics. However, I wonder whether the preface referenced at OfaTTtS would be awkward as an article without the lyrics also present. Thehappysmith 21:30 27 Sep 04 UTC
- Transwiki - what Gwalla said. --avnative 18:19, Oct 1, 2004 (UTC)
- Many people search for lyrics, both on popular songs, folk songs and Christian hymns. As I understand it, Transwiki is for translation, but that makes no sense for lyrics, they need to be in the original language. O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing is especially relevant for the founding of Methodism, a very large world religion, and is included as the first hymn in all hymnals for a reason - thus, the reason needs to be recorded in an encyclopedia. Transwiki does not seem to me to be the appropriate place to move - can someone explain? I am against deletion!--WiseWoman 12:59, 2004 Oct 3 (UTC)
- Transwiki generally has nothing to do with translations--it just refers to moving content to a more appropriate sister project. For example, dictionary definitions get transwikied to Wiktionary, otherwise non-notable 9/11 victims get transwikied to the 9/11 memorial, recipes get transwikied to Wikibooks (cookbook), speech texts get transwikied to Wikisource. I believe lyrics get transwikied to Wikisource. Niteowlneils 20:42, 3 Oct 2004 (UTC)
