1993 World Record, Question About 2nd Place?
[edit]Can anyone find find a competition results/summary for the High Jump at the July 1993 Salamanca Invitational? Who else was in the competition and what height did 2nd and 3rd place competitors achieve? Perhaps a full accounting in the August 1993 issue of Track & Field News? In the excellent videos of Sotomayor's record-breaking jump, the TV sport commentators show, briefly, Sotomayor's jump progression. He passed the two early heights, cleared 2.38 on his first attempt, then "passed" at 2.41, and cleared the record height, 2.45 on his second jump. Can someone explain why the bar was set at 2.41 in the first place? Who finished second in that competition and was he still jumping at 2.41? Or, did the event official simply "automatically" raise the bar to 2.41 (without asking Sotomayor), and then the Cuban asked it to be raised to record-height 2.45? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Swegam (talk • contribs) 15:26, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
World Record July 1993
[edit]There are several incorrect references to the date of Sotomayor's 1993 world record. It was set on 27 July, not 23 July. A contemporary New York Times news article can be accessed on-line, which clearly states the record was set on 27 July. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Swegam (talk • contribs) 03:42, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
drugs
[edit]Wasn't he charged with use of stereoids? I remember it was in the drug cheats category which cocains isn't!?
what was his record at athens 2004 olyampics?
