A quick note to say thanks
I just wanted to drop you a quick note to thank you for your support in my request for adminship. It was certainly a wild ride, and I really appreciate you taking some time out to contribute. ClockworkSoul 16:29, 24 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Heya, could you speedy delete Lil' John? The user has been creating that nonsense page (note the broken links at the bottom) a lot lately, keeps recreating it after deletion. Lil' John should probably be recreated as a redirect to Lil John, but let's get rid of the cruft first. The user keeps deleting my deleteagain template. Thanks. --fvw*† 09:22, 2004 Nov 29 (UTC)
- Thanks. --fvw*† 09:27, 2004 Nov 29 (UTC)

- Go to bed, Raul. =p --Slowking Man 09:41, Nov 29, 2004 (UTC)
- He replaced the redirect with his bogus article again, but I reverted it. Now he created a new article at Little John and put the bogus content there again. I've listed him on WP:VIP. I can't keep up. Any help you or anyone else can give would be appreciated. — Knowledge Seeker দ (talk) 10:04, 29 Nov 2004 (UTC)

- All right. Don't hesitate to ask again if he starts editing again. --Slowking Man 06:22, Nov 30, 2004 (UTC)

Disney Comics
Why did you revert my edit at Disney Comics?
- Er, terribly sorry. I didn't look at it closely enough, and thought it was school advertisment spam. My apologies. --Slowking Man 09:07, Dec 3, 2004 (UTC)
- OK, thanks... I was just wondering... Delete these last comments if you wish...
(Hopefully, there will be a better explanation of these different comic schools later...)
Thank you but… [edited]
Dear Slowking Man
Thank you for your excellent format changes to Leo Gaje Cool beanz!
Query Fri 3 Dec 2004
Please can you take a close look at the comments of a user called Vague_Rant who keeps removing a similar entry for Leo T Gaje Jr? This person (from Melbourne, Australia), keeps listing the page entry as a copyright violation. To my knowledge user Vague_Rant has no knowledge or affiliation to Pekiti-Tirsia or Leo Gaje and has not even had the courtesy to acknowledge a request posted on a linked Live_Journal page at URL: http://www.livejournal.com/users/rago/135519.html?
Please hover close by like the good Wikipedia Angel you are.
Filipino Martial Arts FMA is a serious discipline, honored by the blood shed by honorable men and women over many years. It deserves more respect than that shown by Vague_Rant.
Thank you and keep well
Peace

- Yeah, Slowking, I'd be okay with that. Not too impressed with this guy's conduct, though. - Vague | Rant 01:12, Dec 5, 2004 (UTC)
Big UP to ya, Slowking
Thank you and keep well.
And as my Australian friend keeps reminding me…
Good on ya!
Article Licensing
Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:
- Multi-Licensing FAQ - Lots of questions answered
- Multi-Licensing Guide
- Free the Rambot Articles Project
To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:
- Option 1
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
OR
- Option 2
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)
My Adminship
Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship/Squash
It is of course, human nature to focus on the one thing at sometime. Adminship would be great as it allows me to do more things with ease. However, I am not obsessed, the reason why I made such as long message was to make sure there was enough persausion so that voters do not have to ask questions. I will use this adminship to help me with administrative tasks and I will use this adminship not what I think is right but what is correct with Wikipedia policies. I hope that you trust me enough to put this adminship to good and proper use. I self-nominated myself to the fact that I more then deserve the adminship and waited long enough. It is common knowledge that had I not been in the Wikipedia channel ever, then none of this doubt would happen. I am just a person who enjoys my life (life is precious), I don't want to cause harm to anyone. But some people are taking everything I do on the IRC room seriously. The Wikipedia channel is not the Wikipedia itself. People such as Vague Rant based their decision differently because this is a self-nomination, this is not very fair. I decided not to go on #wikipedia channel ever again, if there are people who think I am so and so. I am a light hearted person who wants to be friends, but just obviously don't want to be my friends. They are attempting to ruin my self-esteem so that it affects my abilities as a fellow Wikipedia - a fellow human.
I have done many good things to the Wikipedia. No one can ever know me better then myself, there are people who think that just because a person is like that - that they are like that forever. An example would be this: If a poor man stole some bread to feed his starving children, would that be a crime ?... And if a person got a ticket (fine, penalty) for a minor offense such as dumping a piece of rubbish, does it make them a bad person?. If this happened to you, what would you do... It is a known, that many people change religions and change their ways. This does not imply that I am what the opposers say. But it is a scenario, that if I were what they say.
Of course they may think that I shouldn't be an admin - everyone has different thoughts, some are influenced by the people that they like. I want this adminship, had I not wanted it I would have withdrawed the nomination. If you think that I am a good person then I hope that you will change your decision. Please give me a fair go. Squash (Talk) 03:15, Dec 12, 2004 (UTC)
- I certainly don't think that you're a "bad person." I don't even think you'd make a bad administrator. If this was the case, I would have opposed your adminship. However, I have some reservations about the opposers' concerns as well as your own eagerness to gain adminship. I hold to the axiom that "The only person fit to be President (or in this case, an admin) is one who does not desire the job." Please don't take our votes personally. I don't have any sort of grudge against you, and I'm sure the other "Oppose" and "Neutral" voters feel the same way. We simply have concerns about your behavior on Wikipedia. --Slowking Man 03:38, Dec 12, 2004 (UTC)
- Quote: "We simply have concerns about your behavior on Wikipedia." I think you mean the Wikipedia IRC channel. Anyway fair enough, I understand your decision. Squash (Talk) 05:35, Dec 12, 2004 (UTC)
- I can't speak for the other voters, but I don't really attach much importance to what happens in IRC. Besides, I haven't seen any of the behavior that some are alluding to. --Slowking Man 05:59, Dec 12, 2004 (UTC)
Re: Strokingman
Yeah, but if I were in top form I'd have got that talk page edit first too. ;) Plus you were busy blocking the guy. Having fans like him is a good indication you've been doing well as a vandal fighter. I hope you keep it up! -- Hadal 06:23, 14 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Game Media
Myself and others have been removing the media sections on games that are multi-platform. IMHO, theres really no point to the "Game Media" section anyway except for if it's an exclusive PC game because at least there it has a possibility of being different (CD, DVD, download (ex:Steam) etc). If it's on GameCube people should automatically assume it's using GameCube media. When you have a title that is multi-platform such as XIII (game), it's just clutter since this specific game is available on 5 different platforms. In addition, the project page for WikiProject: Computer and video games, specifically states that the model is for one specific platform. K1Bond007 01:37, Dec 23, 2004 (UTC)
Requests for admin assistance
Hi Slowking Man. As per our conversation on #IRC, I'm creating this section for things I could use your help editing on protected pages. Thanks again! Charm ©†
- Wikipedia:Risk_disclaimer
- In the paragraph beginning "Wikipedia is not uniformly...", erronous should be erroneous. Ironic error to have, don't you think? ;) Charm ©† 10:37, Jan 1, 2005 (UTC)
- That is a bit ironic. I've corrected it, and made a couple other grammar fixes. --Slowking Man 10:44, Jan 1, 2005 (UTC)
- Wikipedia:Medical_disclaimer
- after medical professional appears in bold, I would reformat the examples as: "medical professional (for instance, a qualified doctor/physician, nurse, pharmacist/chemist, and so on)." Regarding i.e., see this page, item 4. I don't like "or such like", and is there some reason I'm not aware of for putting a space after the slash marks? Charm ©† 11:10, Jan 1, 2005 (UTC)
- While we're at it, I would rephrase Nothing on Wikipedia.org or of any project of Wikimedia Foundation Inc., should be construed as Nothing on Wikipedia.org or included as part of any project of Wikimedia Foundation, Inc. should be construed. Charm ©† 11:10, Jan 1, 2005 (UTC)
- I noticed the NOTE: This is a draft proposed wording disclaimer at the top of the page. Shouldn't a draft proposal be kept in the Talk: page until it's accepted? Charm ©† 11:10, Jan 1, 2005 (UTC)
- Wikipedia:Content disclaimer
- The fourth and fifth bullet mark items should have periods at the end, for consistency with the other bullet marks.
- should "law of the state" be "laws of the state"?
- apparently taboo articles no longer exists
- Charm ©† 11:51, Jan 1, 2005 (UTC)
- Wikipedia:Copyrights
- Please see Wikipedia talk:Copyrights#syntax amelioration :). I thought the same thing when I read that sentence. Having different images with different copyright status is obviously not a problem; it's when the same image has more than one copyright status that we have a problem...
- Also Wikipedia talk:Copyrights#Minor edits. I agree wikipedia:verbatim should be Wikipedia:Verbatim; however, I don't see the problem with "section 2".
- Under Tagging, wikipedia:image should be Wikipedia:Image.
- Under Fair use materials and special requirements, the sentence "An approval process for fair use images at has been proposed at Wikipedia:Fair use." should read "An approval process for fair use images has been proposed at Wikipedia:Fair use." (remove extra at).
- US should be U.S.; this appears twice. See Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#Usage and spelling.
- Under Celebrity photographs, in item 3, "a legal representatives" should be "a legal representative".
- Under If you find a copyright infringement, fourth paragraph, "then the page should be listed it on" should be "then the page should be listed on". (remove it).
- thanks again for the help needed to make some of these edits Charm ©† 13:35, Jan 1, 2005 (UTC)
- I got your message on my Talk: page that you had done the edits. Thanks again! I'll let you know if I find any other changes that need to be made on protected pages. Charm ©† 08:44, Jan 2, 2005 (UTC)
Thank you for your vote...
...and kind words on RfA. -Rholton 13:24, 2 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- No problem. Thank you for doing the menial jobs that others won't do. --Slowking Man 21:15, Jan 2, 2005 (UTC)
Please Keep in Mind
Please keep in mind you are far too "seasoned" for your experience. I don't feel compelled to log in at the moment, so naturally I do not deserve a reply.
Re: Vexillological symbols in articles
I did this for all "flag of" articles from A through L, and some of the M's. That info should help you make the necessary edits.
By the way, you must be using IE, since I did this under Mozilla, and it seemed to render fine in my browser. Denelson83 08:39, 21 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- I am using IE, but according to the developers, Mediawiki 1.4b3 intentionally broke Wikimarkup in picture captions. --Slowking Man 08:42, Jan 21, 2005 (UTC)

Related to this guy, he's been running around and placing threats to people to stop adding "nonsense articles" and to "reply or I will block you. We don't much like your type around here". (that's not verbatim, but you get my drift...) Segekihei 01:31, 4 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- Yeah, I've been watching him, and I just blocked him for a day. Maybe that will cool him off. If not, and you notice him acting up again, don't hesitate to tell me. --Slowking Man 01:36, Feb 4, 2005 (UTC)
- Will do. I'll be around for a while, so if he recreates and I spot it, I'll letcha know. Segekihei 01:37, 4 Feb 2005 (UTC)
GCOTW
I nominated an article. The other two don't interest me. -- AllyUnion (talk) 08:40, 4 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks for the info about GCOTW's revival. I'll try to put some work into the featured articles. --pie4all88 06:40, 5 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Re: Wandalism
Blocking my IP for messing around on the User Page of a user who is blocked for a year + (to my understanding)... foolio quite joshing. but seriosuly, thats messed.
Did you know...
Yes, it looks like I'm taking care of that. But I wouldn't mind some help. I'm glad you're asking.
The most important thing is to have the oldest suggestions, made on the talk page, included earlier than the more recent suggestions so those don't become too old, unless that would spoil the variety. You can't have a bias towards a single country or subject. Also, I would prefer if you update four items at once. But that's just me. Another important point is exposure: every items should have at least 6 hours on the front page, but a little more won't hurt. ;)
If you'd like to have a go and if you're an admin, go ahead. (The template has been locked against main page vandalism). Just have a look at my latest few updates to see how the coding goes. :) Good luck and just tell me if you mess it up, so I can fix it. -- Mgm|(talk) 08:55, Feb 9, 2005 (UTC)
- I'll update the section today. Can you do it tomorrow? Mgm|(talk) 12:47, Feb 9, 2005 (UTC)
- Sure, if you want. I'm already helping maintain Template:In the news, but another small job couldn't hurt. --Slowking Man 20:48, Feb 9, 2005 (UTC)
- I see you changed the Dalziel and Pascoe item. Was there anything wrong with the fact I entered? Mgm|(talk) 21:58, Feb 9, 2005 (UTC)
- Someone on the Talk page pointed out that, according to the article, A Clubbable Woman wasn't the first of the author's novels adapted for television--A Pinch of Snuff was (I think). However, the article mentions that the book was the first in the Dalziel and Pascoe series, so I replaced your entry with that fact. --Slowking Man 22:15, Feb 9, 2005 (UTC)
- I see you changed the Dalziel and Pascoe item. Was there anything wrong with the fact I entered? Mgm|(talk) 21:58, Feb 9, 2005 (UTC)
I recieved this while browsing. I did not have an account then, which was about 100 seconds ago.
Maryland Please stop inserting factual inaccuracies into Maryland. This is considered vandalism, and continuing to do so may result in a block. --Slowking Man 06:06, Sep 4, 2004 (UTC)

- You haven't linked the IP, but I assume that message was intended for another user. Anonymous editors are tracked by IP address, and it's quite common for multiple people to use the same address. --Slowking Man 08:46, Feb 11, 2005 (UTC)

page deletion
Hey Slowking Man, can you undelete pages? Here's the story: User:Spingo moved Wikipedia:RC patrol to Wikipedia:Pelican shit patrol which I moved back and nominated the redirect for deletion. But then he moved Wikipedia:Pages needing attention to Wikipedia:Pages needing pelican shit links. I moved it back but he moved it again before I could change the redirect; now it looks like he copied-and-pasted the original article back onto Pages needing attention, so I couldn't move the p.s. version back. That one has all the history. While I was reporting this on WP:AN, it looks like you deleted the p.s. version as vandalism, which it was, but it has the whole edit history in it. Not sure if anything can/should be done; just wanted to let you know. — Knowledge Seeker দ (talk) 08:25, 28 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- Crap. Yes, I can undelete. Let me look at it. --Slowking Man 08:33, Feb 28, 2005 (UTC)
- I think it was a caching problem. The history's there. Refresh if you don't see it. --Slowking Man 08:43, Feb 28, 2005 (UTC)
Thanks; I refreshed and you're right—the history's all there. I must have not cleared my cache properly before or maybe the database hadn't updated or whatever. Anyway, thanks for your help. — Knowledge Seeker দ (talk) 08:50, 28 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Nofollow status
Do you know what the status of the rel="nofollow" attribute is? You seem to have taken point for the vote procedure and as liaison to the developers on irc. Just curious. -- Decumanus 21:49, 2005 Mar 1 (UTC)
- I reported the results, but there really wasn't a clear consensus. Plans for a more intelligent system are in the development pipeline, but they might take a while. --Slowking Man 07:13, Mar 2, 2005 (UTC)
- So you're saying "keep" essentially won the vote? Could you perphaps provide a detailed summary for the page, including who you talked to among the developers and what they said, so that others can comment/react to it? -- Decumanus 15:36, 2005 Mar 2 (UTC)
- There was no consensus. Do not attempt to implement this feature. --Tony Sidaway|Talk 20:37, 5 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- I'd appreciate it if you didn't threaten me on my Talk page. I never said I was doing anything, and I can't implement anything anyway; I don't have shell access to the Wikimedia servers. Besides, it was the developers who took it upon themselves to "implement" the "feature" in the first place. --Slowking Man 20:42, Mar 5, 2005 (UTC)
- :By implement, what do you mean? It was a brand new feature that was added by the developers last month, and turned on by them a boolean flag. The vote reflects a desire by the community to return to the status quo of one month ago. If anything, I believe there should have been a consensus required to turn the feature on in the first place (that is, having the feature turned off should have been the default, with a consensus required to turn it "on"). I'm not sure if this is what you meant, perhaps. In any case, I've notified the developers on the mailing list of this. Discussion should not occur on the irc channel, but should occur in the open so it is visible. Thank you,
Slowking Man, for creating this debate. I agree that debate should not occur here, but on the Nofollow page itself, and on the mailing list. --Decumanus 20:47, 2005 Mar 5 (UTC)
- I just wrote up a summary of the reaction that I got, as well as my thoughts, at Wikipedia talk:Nofollow#A people divided. --Slowking Man 20:58, Mar 5, 2005 (UTC)
User:Vaoverland - administrator
Thank you for supporting my appointment as an administrator. I appreciate the pat on the back this represents. It felt nice to read the comments during the voting. Please let me know if you see something I should be doing as admin, as I intend to be fairly passive unless it is clear I should do otherwise. Thanks. Mark in Richmond. Vaoverland 20:06, Mar 6, 2005 (UTC)
- No problem. Have fun with your new abilities! --Slowking Man 21:58, Mar 6, 2005 (UTC)
My adminship
Thank you for voting for me for adminship. I appreciate the confidence you showed in me. Although I'm sure you knew I wasn't already an administrator, as I've come to you a few times before for assistance. In any case, it'll be nice to be able to tackle some of these problems myself now. Well, once I read up on all this. — Knowledge Seeker দ 08:30, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Congratulations. Hmm, from looking at your User page, it seems you edit the Spanish Wikipedia as well as here. I should join. Then again, I've barely had time to edit the English Wikipedia (I'm plugging away at homework right now =\). Oh well. --Slowking Man 08:39, Mar 15, 2005 (UTC)
Yeah, I've joined es, but I've hardly done anything there so far. The big reason of course is my difficulty with Spanish—it's one thing to be able to get your point in a conversation and another to try to write encyclopedia articles. Also, I still haven't figured out how to put accents and tildes in on es (whereas on en, we have a nice selection of special characters to click on from the edit box). And finally, like you, I have so much I want to do on en that that ends up dominating. Oh yeah and being a med student and going to the hospital and all that fun stuff comes in there somewhere too... — Knowledge Seeker দ 09:21, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- You could bug the developers to put the inserts box on other Wikipedias, I suppose; it looks like a Javascript hack. In Windows, you can copy and paste from the Character Map (Start Menu->All Programs->Accessories->System->Character Map), or, if you want to be really geeky, learn the Alt+xxxx character codes (é is Alt+0233, for example). --Slowking Man 09:27, Mar 15, 2005 (UTC)
Actually, I am that geeky, and used to do that for Spanish essays in college. But I have a laptop now which doesn't have a separate numeric keypad. So I'd have to hit Fn-F9 (which reassigns some keys to the numeric keypad, enter the character, then Fn-F9 again to restore the keyboard). And Character Map, while a great tool, is too clunky to use while typing an article. For now I've been typing them in en's sandbox and then copying and pasting them. If I had a numeric keypad I'd have no problem with using the codes. I'll figure something out. Thanks for your suggestions! — Knowledge Seeker দ 09:32, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)
About RickK, me, and user blocking
- Note: Please read this carefully and thoroughly, as this is important.
RickK, one of the admins, blocked my former accounts "User:Hil Duff" and "User:Hil Duff star". He didn't give any reason why and totally ignored my comments on my talk page just because he thinks my user name would be something like imposting or vandalizing. I wanted to discuss things over with him, but he just deleted my account immediately without reason. I just want to be a happy Wikipedian here.
I AM NOT A VANDAL, and I won't be Hilary Duff, just Cool Cat886. I won't tell anybody that I am famous or a pop star. I just want to contribute in peace here, and YOU CAN BLOCK ME ONLY IF YOU SEE ME VANDALIZING OR ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING BAD, BECAUSE I DIDN'T. Would you support me and be my good friend, or should I just get blocked for eternity because I didn't do anything? Cool Cat886 07:19, 18 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Uh, great. I agree with Rick regarding the impersonation thing. If you don't do anything "bad," you don't have to worry about getting blocked. Quite simple, really. --Slowking Man 07:48, Mar 18, 2005 (UTC)
