Teide or Mount Teide?
[edit]In English, it's called Mount Teide, so shouldn't this be the article name, as per WP:USEENGLISH? Joseph2302 (talk) 14:05, 22 December 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for raising this point. A Google search for "Teide" (excluding "Mount Teide" and "Mt Teide") gives me about 5,400,000 web pages in English. So, "Teide" is an English name for the mountain. A Google search for "Mount Teide" gives me about 336,000 web pages. A Google search for "Mt. Teide" gives me about 41,000 web pages. This suggests to me that "Teide" is the English WP:COMMONNAME; therefore I think that "Teide" is an acceptable name to continue using for this article's title. I suggest that the start of the first sentence of the article could be changed from "Mount Teide" to "Teide, or Mount Teide" for improved accuracy, completeness and consistency. - After waiting 12 days for further discussion, I have changed the first sentence of the article as per my suggestion of 22 December 2020. GeoWriter (talk) 13:55, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
UNESCO considers it the third tallest volcanic structure in the world and not the fourth
[edit]UNESCO considers Teide the third tallest volcanic structure in the world and not the fourth as it says in the article: Teide National Park, UNESCO.--87.223.111.136 (talk) 13:34, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for reporting this. I have restored the correct version of the text. GeoWriter (talk) 22:06, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
