[edit]Wondering how to edit this U.S. City Entry?
The WikiProject U.S. Cities standards might help.
Kind of ironic that a city named after Nathan Bedford Forrest is today 61% black. 68.38.181.200 03:08, 27 November 2005 (UTC)
Forrest was NOT a "founder of the Ku Klux Klan"
[edit]There is zero evidence to back up this mythology. The Ku Klux Klan was founded in December 1865 some two hundred miles east of where Forrest lived, by James R. Crowe, Calvin Jones, John Booker Kennedy, John C. Lester, Frank O. McCord and Richard R. Reed.2600:8807:5480:9F0:BD0F:D812:2515:3303 (talk) 03:49, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
- Wiki guidelines establish that such claims "must be verifiable through citations to reliable sources", and this mischaracterization obviously is not. Further, the narrative claims Forrest began his activity in the area in 1866, which is a year before he was drafted to be the KKK figurehead to improve its declining reputation and before such a reputation had even been established at all. As written the narrative purports to place the "Grand Wizard" in a setting before any such figure even existed. I have corrected the text to say "later" to fix the temporal misinformation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 104.169.38.208 (talk • contribs) 15:15, 13 October 2024 (UTC)
