Talk:Ecological wisdom

Is ecological wisdom purely a party political green concept? Or should this article be merged with Global Green Charter? Laurel Bush 12:46, 11 May 2005 (UTC).

To your first question: I don't know, and this page could certainly be expanded to include non-party info. To your second: this page is necessary for the Template:Greens to expand on what ecological wisdom means.

I agree with the above comment and would add that I think the answers to both questions should be "no." Although the term "ecological wisdom" is part of the green charter, it would be unwise to regard it as the appropriation of a particular party. Ecological wisdom or "ecosophy" is the basis of the deep ecology movement, which predates, and is broader than, green parties. Sunray 16:08, August 14, 2005

Deep ecology or green politics?

I'm not really happy that the ecologically consciousness of green parties is equalled in this article with "ecosophy", something that in my view is more a philosophical concept or, if seen political, linked to "deep ecology" politics. Maybe the link in the template should be replaced by something like political ecology, and this article could be integrated into deep ecology? -- till we ☼☽ | Talk 10:05, 13 September 2005 (UTC)

I'm not sure what your objection is. The article, as it currently reads, gives the origin of the term (first used by Arne Naess) and goes on to explain that the green parties have adopted the term. Two facts. Green parties surely can't deny the origin of the term nor its etymological roots (sophy is from sophia meaning wisdom). Sunray 06:51, 14 September 2005 (UTC)

Ecosophy
