[edit]I disagree with the change to rekey the single-digit streets and avenues without a leading zero, as this screws up the order. Would a Category:Avenues in Manhattan be an acceptable compromise, or would that lose on CFD? --SPUI (talk) 23:29, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- I think it's more intuitive for people to look under "2" for "Second Avenue" than under "0", for "Seventh Avenue" under "7" rather than "0" and so forth. I'm not heavily invested in either idea, but I just think it's more intuitive this way. Once (if) dozens of more Manhattan streets are added (i.e., when there really is an article for 19th Street, 20th Street, each street in the 70s and so on), then I'd say your way makes more sense. - New comment: Right now 125th Street is listed under "A." Where would you put it, under "1"? I guess I don't see the numbers as strict linear organizers the way you or others might. I see them more as intuitive organizers. I think a separate "Avenues in Manhattan" category is not a good idea. Moncrief 23:39, Apr 22, 2005 (UTC)
- I'm not understanding. What part of "125th Street" goes with "A"? Moncrief 23:54, Apr 22, 2005 (UTC)
- I wish there were some way to make "10," "20" etc (two-digit numbers) show up as category section titles. That would solve the problem, as we could put Second Avenue" under "2" and 23rd Street under "20." Unfortunately, that doesn't appear to be possible. You're welcome to change it back if you're upset by the change, as long as we keep the discussion open (though I doubt many people have this category page bookmarked) and continue to consider the new way.
