Assess : newly added and existing articles, maybe nominate some good B-class articles for GA; independently assess some as A-class, regardless of GA status.
Cleanup : * Sport governing body (this should-be-major article is in a shameful state) * Field hockey (History section needs sources and accurate information - very vague at the moment.) * Standardize Category:American college sports infobox templates to use same font size and spacing. * Sport in the United Kingdom - the Popularity section is incorrect and unsourced. Reliable data is required.
* Fix project template and/or "to do list" Current version causes tables of content to be hidden unless/until reader chooses "show."

Should we add a note to the number of teams in the CFL to mention the Atlantic Schooners? Or is it not considered a "sure thing" yet? The upcoming NHL and MLS teams are mentioned, but those are about as guaranteed to happen as anything in professional sports could be. I'm not sure if the Schooners rise to that level yet. --Khajidha (talk) 18:26, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Since we're already counting US states and Canadian provinces together, it seems a little silly to relegate DC's ranking to a footnote about where it would fall "if it were a state". --User:Khajidha (talk) (contributions) 14:50, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Khajidha I agree. On a related topic, can anyone explain why Demographia is the source for the population data and rankings, rather than the U.S. Census Bureau and its Canadian counterpart? Alielmi1207 (talk) 01:26, 13 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The issue with using official stats from national statistical agencies is that they use inconsistent methodologies to define population centres, so attempting to synthesize them into a single list to rank the cities is not meaningful and would be WP:original research. Relying on an independent source to apply a consistent approach eliminates that problem. TDL (talk) 20:05, 24 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This has been talked about before, but, considering this includes the CFL, and CFL teams are at best valued around $50 million (https://www.insauga.com/hamilton-tiger-cats-receive-highest-valuation-in-cfl-history-report/)... it does beg whether things like WNBA (which have slightly less but similar likely team values, https://herhoopstats.substack.com/p/wnba-team-values-sale-worth-2021... and the 12-team league & teams were just valued at $1 billion a few months ago), or even the National Lacrosse League (most likely right now at best worth $10-15 million, but, their team values are growing). More just to the point that just because the CFL has been around forever and the NFL isn't in Canada, doesn't mean the CFL necessarily belongs with the "Big 4" (or even MLS). A map in the "Teams by state/province/territory" section includes several states that have 0 teams, but formerly had a team. These states include Nebraska, Iowa, Kentucky, Connecticut, & Rhode Island. I am confused about which teams this map is referring to or even the criteria for attaining this rank. Does it include former professional leauges like the ABA? It might help to include citations or links like the more prominent chart in the "Teams by metropolitan area" section. Does anyone have the answer to this? Ledvelvet21 (talk) 17:02, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
